I already mentioned in a previous post the wonderful Nokia AppWizard that enables anybody to create a mobile application for S40 and S60 Nokia devices based on a RSS stream.
Now, Google is introducing a development tool for education called AppInvenor.
This tool aims at offering to non-developpers a simple and intuitive way to develop Android applications, like on this video:
By lowering the knowledge barrier at application creation, Google will
- create an Android developper base for the future
- get more applications from creative people and not only from developers
It reminds me of kid oriented development tools like Little Wizard you can find on Linux distros and Windows.
I’ve just registered to get access to Android AppInventor, and will let you know when I’ll get my hands on it.
Anyway this seems to be another very smart move from Google to reinforce Android’s position on applications.
