Chinese manufacturers are rising very quickly. Once manufacturing low end feature phones for operators, they are now at the van guard of smartphones. Huawei is launching its Ideos device featuring Android 2.2 and with a nice Google marking at the back. Manufacturers with this marking are quite rare: only HTC devices got it in the past. This is a strong message.

The other Chinese manufacturer rising is ZTE. ZTE main be not as strong as Huawei in the smartphone space, but he’s shipping nearly 30M devices p.a. ZTE is on the edge of the mobile manufacturer Top 5. ZTE may take over next year Sony Ericsson. It would be a clear signal that Chinese manufacturers are no longer 2nd league players.
